Tech Tip Tuesday – Ransomware via Social Media
Until recently the most common delivery of ransomware was through email. Attackers have now added social media (e.g. Facebook, Linkedin) to their bag of tricks. Users are being sent messages with malicious attachments, most commonly in image files. The file needs to be downloaded and executed to compromise your machine so don’t do that. In fact don’t open files with uncommon extensions (e.g. SVG, JS, HTA).
