NetworkMiner is a Network Forensics Analysis Tool (NFAT) that is great for parsing PCAP files for offline analysis and to regenerate/reassemble transmitted files from PCAP files. Like the kind of PCAP file that is used in the contest to give away a FREE ticket to Shakacon to a current Hawaii high school student. A ticket that is normally $283.79.

Here's the tool.

Tech Tip Tuesday - Capture Packets with Windows netsh

Whenever something goes wrong with your computer and you need to prove “it’s the network”, try using netsh. Sure, you could install Wireshark and the winpcap but who has time (and admin rights) for that? Netsh is already installed on on Windows 7, Server 2008 or newer Windows operating systems.

CyberPatriot VII Round is coming up November 14-16, 2014. There are three images (Ubuntu, Vista, Windows 8) AND a networking quiz on the Cisco Networking Academy site. Check out this site if you need help getting started with IP subnetting or just need a refresher. Hopefully it won’t be on IPv6.
